UCAS Personal Statements – Advice from aston university
It is a good idea to try to consider the following main three
questions on your personal statement, and treat them roughly equally on the
form.
1.
Why do you want to do the course(s) you have applied for?
- Related academic experience?
- Any relevant
work/language/travel experience?
- Career goals
- Show you know what the course
will involve and mention any special subjects you are interested in
- Show some consistency in your
six choices.
2.
What is relevant or enjoyable about the course you are doing now?
- Anything you particularly enjoy
- Why?
- Are you doing project work
which highlights your skills/knowledge/initiative?
- Have you done any
relevant/interesting work experience?
3.
What are you like as a person?
- Positions held in and out of
school/college
- Teams or societies, Key Skills
- Organised events/projects. eg. plays,
charity work. What do you do in your spare time?
